Artist's Statement

I enjoy the movement of fire and hot glass working in concert to create form and art. I strive to explore, to capture and to touch the echos and resonance of fire, glass and color. As I create each piece I want to draw the viewer into the center of a crashing sea of fiery glass. I want the viewer to feel at home in the swirling regions newly formed on a miniature yet seemingly infinite canvas of color, form and glass. My personal goal is to translate this element on the verge of chaos into tactile form and share it with others as a work of art in miniature. I have been involved in several forms of art but hot glass has always fascinated me. I started out doing kiln work such as glass fusing and slumping. I had no interest in glass bead making at all. While taking a glass fusing class one of my instructors brought in a torch and some glass rods. The instant I melted my first glass rod in the flame it changed my artistic direction forever. I have been making glass beads since then and each time I am at the torch it is an experience of discovery for me. I hope you enjoy my glass art.
